Le Sentier des Oliviers

Start point: Les Ilhes Cabardès

Cross the bridge and turn left onto Rue de la Brousse. After the last house, the trail begins the climb, then crosses a passage carved in the rock and opens on a wide way. Turn right and follow farther the path facing the olive groves. The view over the castles is exceptional. The path is simple, the path is unique. After going round the hillsides, the path leads to a crossing. Leave the main road to go down on the right by the low road. Before descending it is possible to go to the village of Fournes, along the path, then up the roadway of the gardens. Go back to the intersection Chemin-haut / Chemin-Bas.

La Cascade de Cubservies

Start point: Opposite the entrance to randonneurs' parking at Roquefere

Go up the path which has a cross at its entrance. Turn right and follow the path as it runs above the road. At the intersection, go left and then cross the barrier, starting the ascent of a stony path. (1) Go up the valley and then a few steps. When the path becomes level, keep right until a crossroads (2) Here turn off to the left and ascend beneath the green oaks. (Opposite the trail which leads to St Julien). After crossing a small stream, the trail climbs again and ends on the crest of Ventajou. (3) Go up the ridge, pass what remains of a dolmen. Follow the path though a small pine forest and emerge onto a driveable track. Follow this to the next crossroads and then (4) turn left. Continue along a straight section through pine trees and then an area of forestry to reach (5) at the intersection of Plo St Martin (Croix - Vierge). Here, turn right and soon you’ll be above Cubserviès. Make for a gap in the direction of the hamlet to see the waterfall from the promontory. Retrace your steps along the small road. At Fontpeyrisse (picnic area), continue along the road until you are overlooking the village. From here there is a breathtaking view of Cubserviès and the surrounding area. Continue to reach the junction with the trail (6) to Labastide, and here to leave the metalled road (if you stay on the road, the chapel is 300m further on). After two hairpin turns, the trail descends into the woods, crossing a stream, source and ruins. At the intersection, after these ruins (7) be careful to stay on the correct path. Stay right, and continue down to Labastide. Ascend from the bottom of the village, pass the square and find the road. From the Lavoir St André, an alternative, shorter route to Roquefère is along the road. To follow the path instead, after the lavoir follow the path on the left through a chestnut grove, and emerge on a stony track. Turn right to reach (8) the Cross of Viallèle. Pass the rock. Shortly after, leave the track and take the smaller path on the right. From here there are views of the Carcassonne plain. Continue the descent through woodland. (9) At the junction, turn right. The trail emerges above the village of Roquefère, and at the end of the route there is a panoramic view over the village.

Le Roc du Bougre

Start point: Miraval Cabardès

Le Roc du Bougre by going up the road, pass the wash house and then find the path. Start the climb, join a wide path, continue in front to the entrance of the Hamlet of Campmas. Along the small track which gradually reaches the bridge over river Orbiel. Go up on the left 200 m then follow the direction of Lacoste passing higher up near the quarries of orange stones (Gneiss orange for construction). Reach the small hamlet of Lacoste and then near a stream turn right on a flat path. Enjoy the descent to discover shortly after the jagged rocks of Roc du Bougre. Continue downhill and reach a logging area. Continue in front of a forest path with some streams. Leave on the left a path going to Mas Cabardès, then another climbing towards Cubserviès and Labastide. Continue in front to encounter a small discreet path down on the right. It quickly brings back to the heights of Miraval Cabardès, whose bell tower and the roof of the houses can already be seen. Cross the narrow streets and find the bridge.
